Nancy Grace Horton is an award-winning editorial and fine art photographer and educator with wide ranging interests. She has traveled literally around the world taking photographs, completed difficult projects in Cuba and rural Mexico, and is featured in the book "Ghana: An African Portrait Revisited." At the same time she is well known for work in her home town, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and is author of the local bestseller "Portsmouth," a book of her images published in 2007 by Commonwealth Editions. Since the early 1990’s Nancy has worked with editorial clients including The Boston Globe, Yankee Magazine and Rolling Stone Magazine. Nancy specializes in shooting live stage performances, and has a stock file of over 200 world-class musicians. She also does extensive fine art work, including narrative portraiture and meditative, storytelling images that explore the power of curiosity. Nancy is a member of the juried New Hampshire Artists Roster. In 2007, her work appeared in almost a dozen shows, including the Danforth New England Photography Biennial. Nancy's Learning to See workshops bring teens and senior citizens together to experiment and collaborate while learning the art of telling a story with photography. Each project includes a final multi-media exhibit designed to both show off students' work and connect them to their communities. Upcoming projects are planned with Heartwood College, Maine College of Art, Portsmouth Middle School, and for summer 2008, a Wallace Nutting-inspired project at the Wentworth-Gardner House in Portsmouth. Nancy is an Instructor at Maine College of Art and Heartwood College. She is a member and past Board Member of the American Society of Media Photographers and the Photographic Resource Center.
